Sugar Free Chocolate

Chocolate was originally eaten unsweetened, either in a drink like coffee or in dishes such as Mexican mole sauces. Chocolate can add a subtle background flavor that is a pleasant surprise for the taste buds!

Artificial sweeteners can add sweetness to cocoa powder, but don't work well with pure chocolate. Most sugar-free chocolate has maltitol or other sugar alcohols in them. Artificial sweeteners don’t counteract the bitterness of chocolate as well as sugar alcohols. Maltitol acts much the same as sugar in terms of blood sugar impact. When purchasing sugar-free chocolates, it is important to understand sugar alcohols and choose accordingly.

Erythritol as it has the least impact on blood sugar. Liquid sucralose and Sweetzfree are good sweetners for sugar free chocolate.
